Empaths & Epitaphs
It might seem strange to have a gallery dedicated to art that was inspired by graveyards, but Johna has long been fascinated by the symbolism found on the tombstones of early American cemeteries. While in college she took an art history class in which she was allowed to pursue her interest in sepulchral sculpture by writing her term paper on the subject. Grave markers are each a page of history and are the way our ancestors honored each other. They should be preserved and respected so that the coming generations may learn about the people that came before.
The Empaths & Epitaphs Gallery features mixed media, altered photographs, digital drawings and paintings, and traditional artwork that is inspired by cemeteries, graveyards, gravestones, etc. All traditional photography can be found by clicking on the
NATURE PHOTOGRAPHY or CEMETERY PHOTOGRAPHY links to the left.
